Let’s get started…

1. Honeywell Allergen Remover HPA200

An air purifier for those who want 100% proven results

Weight: 17.5 lb | Dimensions: 17.72 x 10.05 x 18.86 in | Filter: True HEPA/activated carbon | Air changes: 5/hr | Power Consumption: 84W (max) | Recommended room size: 310 sq ft | Smoke CADR: 200 | Dust CADR: 190 | Pollen CADR: 180 | Color: Black/white | Warranty: 5-year

[+] Low maintenance

[+] Simple & easy to use

[–] Low energy efficiency

[–] High noise when running at high settings

The Honeywell HPA200 is one of the best air purifiers for anyone who is serious about battling allergens and dust indoor. It’s the classic from Honeywell AR line and it comes with all the basic features you’d expect at an inexpensive price.

There’re 2 reasons that make the HPA200 standout. First, no sharp edges and anti-slip base provide maximum safety to the small kids or seniors. Second, it’s been proven to effectively remove particles (allergens) to 99.97% @ 0.3 microns. It also helps reduce odors, VOCs and germs with its activated carbon pre-filter.

Talking about the controls. We didn’t find them very inspiring but it does have the basics to get the job done. Timer. 4-speed settings. Filter status indicator. Dimmer.

There’re a few issues with the Honeywell HPA200. Like plastic smell and loud noise. Not uncommon with new devices, the smell will faint quickly after 1-2 days. It does give off a bit of noise when running at high speed. But not a big problem when using in large space.

If you’re looking for an air purifier that’s been proven to work with excellent results without breaking your bank account, the HPA200 is your best choice.

2. Honeywell Bluetooth Smart HPA250B

This air cleaner is a lot smarter now with a NEW brain

Weight: 17.5 lb | Dimensions: 17.72 x 10.05 x 18.86 in | Filter: True HEPA/activated carbon | Air changes: 5/hr | Power Consumption: 87W (max) | Recommended room size: 310 sq ft | Smoke CADR: 200 | Dust CADR: 190 | Pollen CADR: 180 | Color: Black | Warranty: 5-year

[+] Energy-saving smart functions

[+] Simple & easy to use

[–] High noise when running at high settings

[–] Does not work on all smartphones (see below)

The Honeywell HPA250B is a carbon copy of the HPA200 except that now it has a more advanced brain and one color option (black).

Two folds. Honeywell is making HPA250B smart to realize energy saving through better system controls. Something the HPA200 can’t do. It also delivers greater convenience to you avoiding the need to monitor the operation constantly.

Now you can use a free app to connect to your smartphone (via Bluetooth). And access these high-tech functions:

  • Allergen alert: notify you about the outside allergens and mold levels in your area.
  • Allergen auto-set: automatically operates the air purifier based on allergen levels in your area
  • Proximity sensor: automatically turn the air cleaner on/off when you enter or leave the Bluetooth Smart range.
  • Custom schedules: makes schedules and set the start/stop time, purification level, automatic sensor operation and LED light travel.
  • Filter reminders: receives reminders when it’s time to change the filters. It also allows you to buy replacement filters directly from your device.
  • VOC sensor: automatically controls the air purifier based on VOC in the room.

The HPA250B uses BluetoothSmart v4.0 technology and the smartphones that will work with it are as follows:

  • Apple iOS 6.0 and beyond
  • iPhone 4s and beyond (not the iPhone 4)
  • iPad Mini & iPad 3rd Generation & beyond (not iPad 2.0)
  • iPod Touch 5th Generation and beyond
  • Android TM 4.3 and beyond. Note that not all Android TM phones have the chip necessary to communicate with BluetoothSmart v4.0.

Go for this if you’re looking for a smart true HEPA air purifier that’s been proven to relieve you of all allergens and save you on the energy bill.

3. Honeywell Allergen Remover HPA300

This is an unrivaled cleaning king air purifier

Weight: 21.0 lb | Dimensions: 20.08 x 10.83 x 22.32 in | Filter: True HEPA/activated carbon | Air changes: 5/hr | Power Consumption: 127W (max) | Recommended room size: 465 sq ft | Smoke CADR: 300 | Dust CADR: 320 | Pollen CADR: 300 | Color: Black/white | Warranty: 5-year

[+] Max cleaning power

[+] Energy-saving smart functions

[–] Noise level & energy consumption can be high

[–] Replacement filters are pricey

The HPA300 is the most powerful Honeywell air cleaner available now. Launched in 2013. It remains one of Honeywell’s top machines.

It has two-stage filtration – true HEPA and activated carbon. Both aim to capture 99.97% of particles down to 0.3 microns and reduce odors. But what makes all this possible is the extra strong blower fan used for this unit. Producing an outstanding airflow – 300+ CADR rating.

This powerhouse air cleaner is capable of circulating air 5 times an hour in rooms as big as 465 sq. ft. The result has been impressive with many users in online reviews giving positive agreement over this unit.

There’re two downsides with the Honeywell HPA300. First, the use of a large fan generates noise at high fan speeds. Second, the lack of high tech controls to enable better energy saving.

But if you’re damn serious about keeping allergens and illness at bay for an extra-large space, this will be an incredible purchase, and you won’t be disappointed.

4. Honeywell Bluetooth Smart HPA8350

The giant that has been enabled with smart energy-saving features

Weight: 22.4 lb | Dimensions: 20.08 x 10.83 x 22.32 in | Filter: True HEPA/activated carbon | Air changes: 5/hr | Power Consumption: 127W (max) | Recommended room size: 465 sq ft | Smoke CADR: 300 | Dust CADR: 320 | Pollen CADR: 300 | Color: Black | Warranty: 5-year

[+] Max cleaning power

[+] Simple & easy to use

[–] Noise level & energy consumption can be high

[–] Replacement filters are pricey

The Honeywell HPA8350 is the smarter twin of HPA300 with high tech controls upgrade. Though their main parts are the same, adding these controls notably jack up the overall performance and user experience.

This model doesn’t require a remote because your smartphone is the remote that can be used to control the air cleaner. You can operate from anywhere as long as you’re within 30 ft. of the Bluetooth zone. Saving you lots of time and wasted motion.

There’s no doubt about it. You can 100% rely on this giant to do the heavy cleaning work like HPA300. But there is one thing you must know (see below):

The HPA250B uses BluetoothSmart v4.0 technology and the smartphones that will work with it are as follows:

  • Apple iOS 6.0 and beyond
  • iPhone 4s and beyond (not the iPhone 4)
  • iPad Mini & iPad 3rd Generation & beyond (not iPad 2.0)
  • iPod Touch 5th Generation and beyond
  • Android TM 4.3 and beyond. Note that not all Android TM phones have the chip necessary to communicate with BluetoothSmart v4.0.

So the idea is clear now. If you have been struggling with the air quality in your big rooms and dislike the idea of doing manual settings, let this air cleaner solve it for you!

5. Honeywell Allergen Remover HPA160 Tower

The tower air purifier that saves space and works at the same time

Weight: 13.3 lb | Dimensions: 8.11 x 11.08 x 25.59 in | Filter: True HEPA/activated carbon | Air changes: 5/hr | Power Consumption: 54W (max) | Recommended room size: 170 sq ft | Smoke CADR: 110 | Dust CADR: 120 | Pollen CADR: 130 | Color: Black | Warranty: 5-year

[+] Great space saver

[+] Simple & easy to use

[–] One-directional airflow pattern (from front to back)

[–] Bad smell when first in use

The Honeywell HPA160 is one of the few tower designs from Honeywell that uses true HEPA. Purposely made to solve two big issues – space constraint and noise.

Sitting on a small footprint. It gives you total freedom to place the unit anywhere you like without taking up much space. And we think this unit is a perfect solution for those living in small apartments (where indoor air quality issues are common).

The tower design allows the fan motor to take on two blower wheels. In effect, the noise coming out is halved as compared to using one big wheel for the same airflow.

It has one thing which we didn’t quite happy with – the airflow pattern created is one-directional. That means it would not clean as fast as you would expect with other models. But here’s the tip: you can use a ceiling fan to stir up particles and recapture them.

The reality is our space is getting more congested than ever with every inch of floor space is measured out. If you have this problem and a bad air problem to solve, the Honeywell HPA160 is definitely an awesome choice.

6. Honeywell True HEPA HPA030B Tower

The best overall performance tower air purifier

Weight: 10.0 lb | Dimensions: 8.5 x 9.5 x 26.0 in | Filter: True HEPA/activated carbon | Air changes: 5/hr | Power Consumption: 54W (max) | Recommended room size: 170 sq ft | Smoke CADR: 120 | Dust CADR: 124 | Pollen CADR: 117 | Color: Black | Warranty: 5-year

[+] Great space saver

[+] Sleek tower design with basic controls

[–] One-directional airflow pattern (from back to front)

[–] Replacement filters are costlier than HPA160

Now, wait a minute… when we compare the HPA030B and HPA160, their differences are so small to the point of “negligible”. But there’re few things that could separate the two.

First. Instead of drawing air in from front to the back, the HPA030B blows air from back to the front. In our opinion, putting the filter at the back can “hide” the dust accumulating on the front panel. Plus a little bit air movement in your direction.

Second. Both towers use different types of filters – Honeywell type H and G. Though they have the same true HEPA grade (which is capable of capturing 99.97% impurities down to 0.3 microns), their prices differ by 30 to 35%.

From the data, we believe the costlier Filter G is responsible for making the HPA030B perform better than HPA160 despite having a cheaper price. But the replacement filters yearly tax could be a concern.

And if weight can help provide some hints about the quality of the built, we think 3.3 lb off from the HPA303B is a huge minus.

If you’re looking for a nice looking tower with basic controls and cheap air cleaner for medium size room, the HPA030B is the best option you can get.

7. Honeywell Professional Series HPA600B

The Rolls Royce of True HEPA air purifier

Weight: 32.0 lb | Dimensions: 17.0 x 10.0 x 24.0 in | Filter: 3-in-1 activated carbon/true HEPA/antimicrobial coating & pre-filter | Air changes: 5/hr | Power Consumption: 44W (max) | Recommended room size: 325 sq ft | Smoke CADR: 210 | Dust CADR: 184 | Pollen CADR: 205 | Color: Black | Warranty: 5-year

[+] Heavy-duty and superb cleaning power

[+] Very efficient in removing particles and odors

[–] Unit price is expensive

[–] Controls not as smart

The HPA600B is the ultimate true HEPA air cleaner by Honeywell. But it’s not made just to solve air problems. It’s a showcase of Honeywell’s great talents and a result of putting quality above everything else.

We’re really impressed by the technology behind the 3-in-1 true HEPA/carbon pack filter. It’s capable of removing 99.97% of pollutants as small as 0.1 microns and reducing bad smells.

Even better, it employs a high-performance and low-energy fan to do the heavy-duty air cleaning. It draws the air in from both sides and then throwing the clean air upward – creating an airflow pattern excellent for high-efficiency cleaning. That’s no all. You can achieve this without a high energy tax and noise problem.

There’re two issues that come up. First. We think the unit is too highly-priced for an air cleaner. And don’t forget about the replacement filter cost you need to pay every year. Second. We really do expect this model to come with high-end smart controls to match the price tag.

If you’re looking for a heavy-duty air cleaner that is super powerful and efficient, energy-saving and quiet, the HPA600B is the gold standard available now. We said that with a presumption – if you have extra to spend.

8. Honeywell Allergen Remover HPA100

Incredible value air purifier for medium size rooms

Weight: 8.52 lb | Dimensions: 13.9 x 8.9 x 13.5 in | Filter: True HEPA/activated carbon | Air changes: 5/hr | Power Consumption: 52W (max) | Recommended room size: 155 sq ft | Smoke CADR: 100 | Dust CADR: 106 | Pollen CADR: 100 | Color: Black/white | Warranty: 5-year

[+] Great value for money

[+] Simple & easy to use

[–] Low energy efficiency

[–] High noise when running at high settings

For the medium size room, the Honeywell HPA100 is one of the best choices for an air purifier right now. It may not be the most powerful air purifier, but it’s great value for your money.

The HPA100 is the smaller version of HPA200 with only half the capacity. And you can expect to see the same standard basic controls. Such as 4-speed settings, filter status, dimmer, and timer. This isn’t high-tech as the smart air cleaner above, but it’s surely a practical one that churns out results.

The fact is this true HEPA Allergen Remover is capable of removing up to 99.97% of airborne particles down to 0.3 microns and reduces odors. And what’s more, it’s been proven to help allergies and asthma sufferers – effectively.

Yes, the design is little dated and not very “green” in terms of power consumption, but the price is right for a medium-range air purifier that really works. If you’re really serious about cleaning up your room from harmful allergens and particles, you really can’t go wrong with it. Just hit the button and see yourself the result…

9. Honeywell Allergen Remover HPA060 Tower

The smallest tower air cleaner you can find on our list

Weight: 8.8 lb | Dimensions: 7.7 x 10.6 x 15.1 in | Filter: True HEPA/activated carbon | Air changes: 5/hr | Power Consumption: 30W (max) | Recommended room size: 75 sq ft | Smoke CADR: 48 | Dust CADR: 62 | Pollen CADR: 75 | Color: Black | Warranty: 5-year

[+] Economical & Portable

[+] Very effective for small room

[–] Noise level can be high on high setting

[–] Bad smell when first in use

The Honeywell HPA060 is the smallest tower air cleaner on our list. Having only half the size of HPA160 makes it a perfect choice for small rooms.

Here’s why. First. Because the HPA060 is small in size, it can be easily relocated to any corner in your room and/or as close as possible to the source. For example, putting it inside a wardrobe to clean up microplastic particles shed from fabrics.

Second. For small areas, you don’t need a big air cleaner to get the job done. You see… big doesn’t always mean good. And you need to pay more for the same air quality. Here’s a better idea. Run a smaller unit longer and nearer to the source.

But the HPA060 is not without any downsides. Some might find it too loud when running at higher speeds at night. Further, the unit also gives off a plastic smell when it’s turned on the first time, though it disappears after some time.

If all you need is some clean air in your bedroom that you hope can relieve you of some bad symptoms (but money is your concern), looks nowhere else this air cleaner is one of the best available now.

10. Honeywell Tabletop HPA020B

The most compact and only tabletop air purifier from Honeywell

Weight: 4.81 lb | Dimensions: 12.1 x 8.5 x 11.2 in | Filter: True HEPA/activated carbon | Air changes: 5/hr | Power Consumption: 32W (max) | Recommended room size: 80 sq ft | Smoke CADR: 53 | Dust CADR: 63 | Pollen CADR: 53 | Color: Black | Warranty: 5-year

[+] Compact & Powerful

[+] Small enough to easily move around

[–] Noise level can be high on high setting

[–] Replacement filter is not cheap (in relative to unit price).

If you compare the HPA020B with HPA060, you will see lots of similarities – not in the way they look but how well they perform. Then why it even deserves a mention! It turns out…

This model can handle smoke particles better than the HPA060 tower. 53 to 48 in smoke CADR. Which translates to an additional 0.5 air changes per hour. And that’s massive for a small size room like bedroom. Thanks to the superior true HEPA filter (Filter G).

This highly portable air cleaner is super lightweight (4.8 lb) and compact in size. And it means to give you the absolute freedom to place it wherever you want it to – on your desktop or inside your wardrobe or next to your smoke puff.

Anyhow. Like many other air cleaners. The noise level can be high when running at high speed. Its plastic body doesn’t seem to kill off noise very effectively. And that’s not all… A quick check on the replacement filter price is slightly higher than the HPA060’s. But overall we think this unit is still one of the best small air cleaners for your bedroom.

If you’re looking for a compact and portable air cleaner for your bedroom, while you are puffing and doing any dust-generating activity, the HPA020B is the one you will love.
